Hull number one of the Grande 35 Metri is a few weeks from launch. Several customers didn’t feel the need to wait to see her, though. Azimut has four further yachts in the series under contract, with the most recent sale occurring just last week.
The biggest boat in the Grande Collection, the Grande 35 Metri measures 115 feet. Her interior spaces make good use of the 24’6” (7.5-meter) beam. This is particularly true of the owner’s stateroom. Located on the main deck, it has a huge glass window that lends new meaning to a window on the world. Furthermore, it offers an extending balcony.
Speaking of extending, Azimut and its design partners strove to extend the usefulness of alfresco space. One clever thing you’ll find aboard is a terraced layout at the foredeck. A large, U-shape dining and seating area sits against the wheelhouse. Two sunpads are just forward of it. Take a step down, and you’re at the hot tub. None of these features interfere with the crew’s ability to do their job, though. Azimut includes side decks that wrap around them, leading to the foredeck gear.
Two more alfresco features of the Grande 35 Metri should catch your attention, too. The first one is a beach club—a dedicated beach club. While it’s an intimate size, it’s a welcome inclusion, since rarely do you see 115-footers without tenders back here. To make room for the beach club, Azimut created toy stowage in a side compartment. A RIB and a PWC can both fit inside.
As you would expect of an Azimut, the Grande 35 Metri pledges sporty performance. The shipyard expects a top speed around 25 knots under MTU power. Interestingly, the yacht has a wavepiercer hull design. Wavepiercers generally offer a smoother ride and less resistance while underway.
Hull number one will be handed over to a Middle Eastern owner in time for the summer. As for the most recent sale, that yacht will spend time in the Caribbean. But, not until springtime 2018.
