Saturday saw the launch of the 164-foot (49.9-meter) Endeavour II at Rossinavi, the Italian shipyard’s first splash of the year.
In build over the past two years at Rossinavi’s Pisa shipyard, Endeavour II is a fast-displacement design. While styling is by Team for Design – Enrico Gobbi, naval architecture comes from Arrabito Naval Architects. The emphasis is on the long range and better fuel economy that comes with a displacement yacht, plus the slightly higher speeds of a semi-displacement yacht. Sea trials should confirm a 16-knot top speed for Endeavour II. In addition, she should see a range exceeding 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
The propulsion system is also noteworthy. It’s a Caterpillar diesel-electric system, fitted with Rolls Royce pods. In brief, pod propulsion enhances maneuverability.
With a 28’9” (8.8-meter) beam, Endeavour II has accommodations for 10 in the owner’s party. Naturally, the owner’s suite is full beam forward on the main deck. It benefits from a fold-down terrace and long ports to each side, essentially bringing the outdoors inside. All guests get housed below decks and are invited to enjoy a variety of alfresco areas aboard. These include dining on the upper deck and a sunpad accompanying a custom-designed pool on the aft deck. Achille Salvagni has been working with the owner on the interior design and exterior furnishings. On a related note, Rossinavi and Achille Salvagni previously collaborated on Numptia.
Endeavour II still has a few weeks left at Rossinavi before delivery, and her first cruising season.
