It’s one thing for megayacht owners to get excited upon their “baby” seeing daylight for the first time. It’s quite another for the craftspeople to pull out their mobile phones and start taking picture after picture. This, when the megayacht in question is still essentially a metal shell. Yet, that’s just what happened yesterday at Feadship’s hull facility. The video here shows Feadship YN 700 not just floating out of the shed, but also garnering attention usually reserved for celebrities.
Of course, the project (whose name is not public for now) still has a lot of work ahead of her. However, you get a good sense of what all 286 feet (87 meters) of her will eventually look like. The styling is from a design company familiar to Feadship, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design.
The next steps will see Feadship YN 700 remain at one of the Dutch builder’s main yards, in Aalsmeer. All exterior finishing work, interior outfitting, and further systems installations are on the agenda.
Normally, we at MegayachtNews.com share news about technical transfers like this to keep you apprised of shipyard happenings. In this case, however, we also want to share the sheer enthusiasm the craftspeople displayed. Oftentimes, we in the industry focus on the owners and their advisors. It’s important to remember the welders and other contributors to projects like Feadship’s YN 700 thrill to the process and progress, too.
