The Monaco Yacht Show attracts the biggest of the big when it comes to megayachts. That doesn’t mean so-called small megayachts lack a place. Indeed, Delta One, measuring 118 feet (36 meters), will be among them. While she’ll be flanked by bigger boats, she’s pretty big on her own, the largest launch thus far from Mulder Shipyard.
Her 36-meter LOA explains her series name, the Mulder ThirtySix. Styled by Claydon Reeves, the yacht features a Fast Displacement Hull Form from Van Oossanen Naval Architects. This means the all-aluminum Delta One should see good fuel burn throughout the full speed range, whether at displacement or semi-displacement speeds. Mulder Shipyard says she performed well during sea trials. In fact, it says she encountered conditions close to Beaufort force 6 on the North Sea. This means strong breezes approaching 22 to 27 knots. It also means large waves exceeding eight feet 2.4 meters). Even in these conditions, Mulder says Delta One still achieved comfortable cruising at 15 knots. She also reportedly topped out at 16.8 knots. Power comes from twin 1,150-hp Caterpillar C18s.
Interestingly, Delta One’s owner, a first-time Mulder buyer, plans to be at the helm the majority of his time onboard. Of course, he does plan to relax with his family, too. There’s a total of five staterooms for the full party, one more cabin than typically found on similar-size megayachts. Since Mulder customizes arrangements with customers, however, the alternate arrangement was possible.
Mulder still isn’t revealing information about the décor, so we’ll have to wait for the Monaco show to see it. Regardless, we do know that Delta One has a beam of 26 feet (8 meters). Interior design is by Claydon Reeves and Vickers Studio. Surprising for her size, she has a beach club with a bar and head. Another nice feature: a balcony deploying off the dining area. For active time on the water, the yacht totes two PWCs, SeaBobs, and plenty of windsurfing gear. She has a Williams 625 Diesel Jet tender, too.
