When a scale model is nearly 6’6” (2 meters), you know the finished megayacht will be significant, too. That model, of the concept Pollux, will be at Amels’ stand at the Monaco Yacht Show next week, to entice customers to commission her as their own.
On contract, the 366’5” (111.7-meter) Pollux will be an Amels Full Custom yacht, rather than part of its Limited Editions semi-custom range. The shipyard’s in-house naval-architecture team analyzed hull forms, systems, and related matters. For example, Pollux should cruise at 13 knots and see a top speed of 17 knots. Far-flung voyages on her own bottom will be welcome, too. Amels calculates best range, at 13 knots, at 6,000 nautical miles. In addition, Pollux will comply with the Passenger Yacht Code, since she’ll welcome 20 guests (plus 47 crew and the captain).
With a volume of 4,750 gross tons, Pollux incorporates seven shapely decks. H2 Yacht Design strove to set her apart from other Amels megayachts, without straying too far from familiarity. “Our ambition was a design that drew on the Amels DNA and heritage, but didn’t simply reproduce existing details,” explains Jonny Horsfield, the studio’s director. Sculpted, pronounced portions of the long, flowing lines catch the eye, intended to catch light as well. The same is true for the metallic paint job—though, of course, clients can specify the color scheme they so wish.
So, too, can clients tailor the interior and alfresco arrangements. With nearly 53 feet (16.1 meters) of beam, Pollux provides ample opportunity for rooms to benefit from beautiful views. Amels suggests a firepit lounge aft on the sundeck (top) and a long pool aft on the main deck, too. Equally important, Pollux provides crew with dedicated access to go about their duties.
