Can a British-designed megayacht have Italian sensibility? She can when she’s Linea, the result of collaboration between Claydon Reeves and Fincantieri.
Measuring 295 feet (90 meters), Linea incorporates classic cues from both the automobile and marine industries. “There is an economy of gesture that draws attention to the subtly concave hull detail, creating pools of light on the yacht’s flanks,” asserts Mike Reeves, the design studio’s co-founder. “The superstructure is crisply drawn, referencing the many classic cars that have become a hallmark of Italy.”
To be clear, Linea is not a mere concept. Fincantieri has already studied engineering and can build her on contract. The shipyard will, of course, provide insight into performance, which promises transatlantic range, upon inquiry. To pique initial interest, though, Claydon Reeves is revealing details about the creature comforts. Because as much as a megayacht can take you from one continent to another, the onboard experience is a priority, too.
For Linea to stand out from other proposals, Claydon Reeves gives prominence to secluded owner areas without compromising crew needs, or your privacy. For instance, the master suite has a forward alfresco area. Abundant seating comes in the form of settees and sun lounges. A hot tub complements them. So, too, does the owner’s deck contain a touch-and-go helipad. So, imagine arriving from shore, then relaxing outside just steps away. All the while you’re sitting there, the captain and crew can be at the helm, yet have sightlines solely out to sea. In other words, you’re not in their field of vision. For line handling, crew have access beneath the helipad.
Claydon Reeves and Fincantieri will build Linea to suit your needs. To spur your imagination, the studio suggests a plunge pool, surrounded by circular seating that extends out over the transom. Transforming the area for nighttime use, a movie screen deploys just forward. Pass the popcorn along the lounges, or even while soaking in the tub. Keeping Linea quite sociable, another nighttime cinema space sits on the sundeck. However, this time a fire pit adds to the ambiance.
With multiple fold-down balconies, tender bays, and of course a beach club, Linea lets you linger and lounge or go out and play.
