A longtime charter customer has finally become a first-time superyacht owner. KD is the owner’s first yacht, and the second 52 Steel from Sanlorenzo. Thanks to the stirring music in this launch video, you might just feel how he did when she entered the water for the first time.
In fact, KD hit the water in March. Because the shipyard had started construction on spec, the owner is enjoying a shorter build and delivery time. West Nautical, which has represented the owner during the project, says KD will see delivery just 18 months after contract. Contract signing took place in January 2017.
The megayacht boasts the features that make the 52 Steel series stand out. These include a long main aft deck fitted with a pool. The pool, in turn, has a glass bottom, bringing light down into the ample beach club. KD’s beach club additionally benefits from having three fold-down platforms, really opening it up to fresh breezes and sunlight.
Since the yacht is solely for family use, not for charter, the owner is ensuring that the interior suited quite personal tastes. He’s working with Tiziana Vercellesi Design www.vercellesi.it on aesthetics. The design studio works on both homes and yachts. In fact, it has an older Sanlorenzo under its belt. Unfortunately, neither Sanlorenzo nor West Nautical has divulged details on the decor of the new yacht. But, KD does accommodate 12 passengers. (The Sanlorenzo 52 Steel offers flexibility in staterooms, alternately catering to parties of 10.)
With a beam of nearly 31 feet (9.4 meters), KD is capable of undertaking long-range voyages. Sanlorenzo pledges 4,400 nautical miles at 11 knots, for instance. For shorter hops around neighboring anchorages, the owner can ask the crew to launch the tender. It stows in a floodable garage.
Enjoy the scenes of KD.
