A watersports enthusiast who plans to head from Los Angeles to Catalina Island on weekends with friends and family signed a contract for Lynx Yachts’ first Crossover series. The Crossover 27 blends the best of traditional yacht features with the best of support yacht features.
So far, Lynx Yachts has built several modest-size support yachts, like the XYT 24. Since they primarily accompany a mothership, they’re big on stowage for toys versus luxury accommodations. The Californian who commissioned the Crossover 27, by contrast, wants a stand-alone cruiser. Additionally, he wants a combination of staterooms and social spaces, along with the extraordinary deck space Lynx Yachts projects afford to stow toys.
Therefore, the 89’9” (27.4-meter) megayacht has an open-plan saloon and galley, along with the wheelhouse on the main deck. A master suite and two guest staterooms go below decks, along with two crew cabins. Throughout the interior, in collaboration with Franck Darnet, the owner is creating a comfortably casual, low-key ambiance, with pale woods. All of this suits a yacht meant for wringing the most fun out of the weekend, simultaneously suiting the owner’s intent to manage the yacht himself at times.
All the while, the Crossover 27 retains the intrepid looks and duty of her support yacht sisters, from the drawing boards of Bernard Weel. She further shares naval architecture from Diana Yacht Design. Nearly 754 square feet (70 square meters) of open aft deck will hold an Air Nautique 21 and a 16-foot (5-meter) RIB. The cozy sundeck will hold toys, too, specifically four PWCs. Even more toys, ranging from surfboards to SUPs and scuba equipment, will go in the lazarette.
The lazarette of the Crossover 27 holds deck furnishings, too, including a dining table. The crew can set these up on the main deck and sundeck when the toys are in the water. Given her 23’3” (7.1-meter) beam and the above-mentioned square footage, the megayacht should adapt well to leisurely afternoons of conversation.
Expect to see this first Crossover 27 in her owner’s hands in 2022. Furthermore, expect additional Crossover designs in the coming months.
