While beach clubs have gained legions of fans among owners and guests, some older yachts on the market unfortunately don’t have them. However, all is not lost, at least in the case of the nine-year-old Valerie. In fact, thanks to creative collaboration among her listing agent, her original builder, and a different design studio, this is Valerie reimagined.
The 279-foot (85.1-meter) megayacht left Lürssen for her maiden voyage in 2011. For more perspective, though, you need to consider when her owner first imagined her. The original drawings date back to 2007. “A beach club was not a major area of interest for that generation of owners,” explains Richard Gray, a broker with IYC, who holds the central sales agency. In fact, sundecks were the focus. Valerie has quite a nice one, with a large pool. Gray believes that Valerie reimagined might not just draw more attention, but also “outweighs the brokerage market competition.”
Alberto Perrone Da Zara, sales director for Lürssen’s refit division, agrees the appeal is strong. “As yachts go up in size, the craving for water grows more and more, and extra space means the possibilities for beach clubs are exponentially bigger.” Equally important, Lürssen’s refit division could make the beach club a reality by the end of this year or beginning of next year.
The design team at ThirtyC will, of course, work with you to carve out the amenities you want most. To kickstart the conversation, Valerie reimagined has the beach club serve as both the arrival and departure point for guests. Additionally, the area takes advantage of the view with relaxing, and removable, seating. The seating removes to permit stowing toys, or converting the area into a desirable gym. Alternately, move furnishings to make the beach club an enviable entertainment space.
Finally, imagine Valerie reimagined with a glass ceiling in the beach club, which lets you look up into the pool directly above. That sounds like an even better view, day or night.
