To say that Reel Development is a sportfisherman only scratches the surface. She measures 84 feet (25.6 meters) LOA, and has a cockpit spanning 260 square feet (24 square meters). She further represents the second-largest delivery in Jarrett Bay Boatworks’ history. As we mentioned at her delivery, the mega fishing machine will send fish running. Here, we give you a closer look at how and why.
The owner of Reel Development plans to enter some of the biggest fishing tournaments around. The open-bridge convertible suits those travels, as well as relaxing leisure time. When the bite is on, the massive cockpit and mezzanine level will be the places to be. Since the fighting chair faces a 210-gallon (795-liter), glass-lined livewell, no one needs to be concerned over keeping things fresh. Two fishboxes in the sole, each with a 120-gallon (454-liter) capacity, eliminate the same concerns, too. Inside, meanwhile, there’s stowage for rods, reels, and more gear aplenty. Stowage is always at a premium aboard a boat, regardless of size, and Jarrett Bay developed some creative solutions for Reel Development, as you’ll see in the photo gallery.
Also inside, satin-finished cherry, along with walnut soles, helps to set a relaxing mood. The woods characterize the saloon and dining area as well as the five staterooms below decks. One of the five is for crew, aft of the engine room. Yet another stateroom, the starboard cabin, has a queen berth along with a Pullman berth.
Not all relaxation has to take place outside, however. In fact, Reel Development has a sun lounge forward of the island console on the bridge. It’s a great place to stretch out whether at anchor or while underway. Twin MTUs of 2,600 hp each push the sportfisherman to a cruising speed just over 33 knots, confirmed during sea trials.
From her famous Carolina flare to her assortment of fish-fighting gear, Reel Development is the “reel” deal. Click on any of the images to launch a slideshow and see more of the details.
