A trio of Italian yachting companies will bring an American cruiser’s large-yacht vision to life. The owner is taking delivery of the first Extra X99 from the Extra Yachts brand of Palumbo Superyachts.
Extra Yachts, which already has the Extra X76 and the Extra X86 among its models, provides owners and guests with more volume and more space. In fact, the defining profile characteristic is an extra-long, open aft deck. This breaks down barriers between cruisers and the ocean ambiance. Furthermore, the usable space is on par with what megayachts exceeding 100 feet (30.5 meters) have.
The Extra X99 comes from Palumbo Superyachts’ own technical team and, for styling and engineering, Guida Design. In keeping with the series’ abundant alfresco space, the carbon-composite 99-footer (30-meter) boasts a 700-square-foot (65-square-meter) aft deck. A transformer platform is here, too. The owner and guests can use the aft deck in multiple ways, from sunning to dining, plus enjoying drinks while seated on either of two C-shape settees. Equally attractive, two platforms fold down to form balconies.
When guests prefer to spread out a bit more, they can soak in a hot tub forward, or check out the flying bridge. There, a hi-lo table complements a healthy-size seating area.
Similar to the Extra X76 and Extra X86, the ExtraX99 has her galley aft on the main deck. This makes for a more casual ambience. The welcoming nature continues throughout the interior, whose design is by Luca Dini. Keeping the main deck open for socializing, the VIP stateroom, two twin cabins, and the master stateroom all sit below decks.
Since the entire Extra Yachts lineup offers good speeds, the Extra X99 stays the course. The shipyard expects a maximum speed of 34 knots with twin 2,600-hp MTUs, further with waterjets. Off-the-yacht speed comes from a 13-foot (4-meter) tender, in a starboard-side garage. Additionally noteworthy, solar panels cover some areas of the megayacht, to power lighting as well as some other hotel loads.
“The big sister Extra X99 is a combination of modernity, large volumes, and comfort in the name of fun and sociability,” says Giuseppe Palumbo, CEO of Palumbo Superyachts.
Look for the speedy megayacht to be in her owner’s hands in 2022.
