With an impressive gross tonnage of 2,885, one of the largest-ever launches under the Amels brand is nearly complete. In fact, this Custom Amels 78 (whose name remains confidential for now) is its biggest to date in terms of volume.
For perspective, consider that the 255-footer (77.8-meter) is more voluminous than the longest-length Amels so far. That yacht, Here Comes the Sun, measures 273 feet (83 meters), but has a gross tonnage of 2,827.
As for this yacht, her just-joined hull and superstructure floated out from her construction shed in late 2019. Then, in early 2020, she transferred to the Amels and Damen Yachting final outfitting facilities, where she has remained to this point. Since it’s the first time the nearly finished Custom Amels 78 can be seen, some of the profile details are immediately apparent. For example, Espen Øino fashioned some of the extra-ample side decks to double as balconies. They lie off guest suites. An owners’ party of 14 can stay aboard, with a crew count of 26 plus the captain. The uppermost deck, meanwhile, is open-air, and quite private given its height off the dock.
Though not visible, a healthy-size pool aft is also among the amenities the owners requested. Finally, they collaborated with Zuretti Interior Designers for what is said to be a contemporary ambience. Details are not available on woods or other decorative materials.
While final outfitting has a few weeks to wrap up ahead of sea trials, delivery takes place early next year.
