UPDATE, February 26, 2024: Heesen’s Project Jade has sold. The owners will take delivery within the next several weeks.. Read on for our original article..
The third Heesen 50M Aluminum Semi-Displacement megayacht just started construction at the shipyard. A spec yacht, Project Jade, a.k.a. YN 20350, should be ready for delivery in 2024.
The new megayacht follows in the footsteps of yachts like Project Sapphire and Aquamarine. She therefore has a sub-500-gross-tons volume and an emphasis on good speed. In fact, the shipyard anticipates her topping out upwards of 23 knots and seeing best range at 11 knots. That range should be 3,100 nautical miles, partially due to twin MTUs, which further meet the IMO’s Tier III emissions regulations. Heesen’s in-house naval architects designed the aluminum hull with propeller tunnels, too, and with a draft of just 7 feet (2.15 meters). Since several Heesens in recent years have sold to American owners, that relatively shallow draft should get extra attention. It’s suitable for heading over to the Bahamas and cruising around for several days.
As has been the case for many years, styling comes from Omega Architects. Heesen’s Project Jade therefore has noticeable curves and a sporty overall stance. Some of the alfresco highlights include an elevated sunpad on the main aft deck, and of course a big sundeck. The outdoor-indoor beach club, meanwhile, should be the social center of the megayacht during days spent at anchor.

Since no owner is yet attached to Heesen’s Project Jade, the shipyard selected Cristiano Gatto Design to create the interior. The Italian studio suggests using abundant whites and pale tones as a light-enhancing backdrop, plus letting colorful art and accessories further personalize the spaces. Overall, the megayacht has accommodations for 12, so far in a pretty traditional way. You’ll therefore find the master suite forward on the main deck and four guest cabins below decks, evenly split between twins and doubles.
The keel laying took place this month in the presence of a surveyor from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), since that’s the classification society that Heesen selected.
