Between his own technical acumen and a visit to the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard, a European owner knew the Acciaio 130 was the right fit for his goals. He plans to cruise—and fish—in a variety of places, especially ones at high latitudes.
The 129’3” (39.42-meter) megayacht is from a series featuring naval architecture and styling by Hydro Tec. That same series has seen two deliveries thus far, including Gatto in 2018. “Acciaio” means “steel” in Italian, so naturally the series features steel hull construction. However, the name also ties in to Cantiere delle Marche’s emphasis on true passagemaking projects, capable of taking on challenging seas and remaining independent from shore for long periods. This Acciaio 130 should have a range exceeding 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, for instance, with her Caterpillar power permitting a top end of 13½ knots. And her high, flared bow should knock some big seas down.
Since the owner is looking forward to fishing, he requested a cockpit. Coincidentally, the owners of the Darwin 106 that just launched this week requested a fishing cockpit, too. Like that megayacht, the Acciaio 130 will have angling gear handy in the ample lazarette. After the bite, the owner and guests can retire to the skylounge for relaxation and exchanging fish tales. If they’d like to get in a quick workout before the day is through, a surprisingly large, 323-square-foot (30-square-meter) gym is on the upper deck, too.
With a displacement of 388 tons, the yacht has yet another surprise: two owners’ staterooms. One sits on the main deck forward. The other is amidships below decks, full beam as well. Beam is 26 feet (8 meters).
Cantiere delle Marche pledges to reveal more information about the megayacht, including the interior, in the coming months.
