Twenty-three years after Azimut Yachts introduced its Magellano Collection, it has splashed a model in the series close to 100 feet LOA. The Magellano 30 Metri launched this week, coming in at 97 feet (29.63 meters). She’s the new flagship of the line, too.
The Magellano Collection derives its name from the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. In that same spirit, each of the models emphasizes long range. This new megayacht has a fuel capacity of 3,831 gallons (14,500 liters) and a cruising speed around 16 knots with 1,550-hp MANs. Notably, Azimut says her hull design directly results in a 15-percent lower fuel burn than traditional hard-chine planing yachts. That hull, a.k.a. the Dual Mode hull, allows for better fuel economy at both slow speeds as well as higher speeds approaching her 20-knot top end.

Simultaneously, the Magellano 30 Metri conveys she’s meant for long stays onboard. Announced in 2020, the series features styling by Ken Freivokh and interiors by Vincenzo De Cotiis. The same designers contributed to the megayacht’s smaller sister, the Magellano 25 Metri, as well. Both yachts reflect classic cruising looks along with modern touches. One of the most noteworthy features—carried through the entire Magellano Collection—is the series of teak louvres flanking each side aft.
Nearly 754 square feet (70 square meters) of glass makes the interior of the Magellano 30 Metri light and bright. That especially benefits the main saloon and the skylounge, but also the master stateroom. The master further occupies the full beam. Alfresco areas from the aft main deck to the upper deck invite the owners and guests to enjoy meals, cocktails, or simply taking in the views.
To be more respectful of anchorages, the Magellano 30 Metri has a battery bank, eliminating genset usage and therefore emissions. The 100-kWh lithium batteries reportedly can run the hotel load for four hours during the day and eight hours overnight.
