We often hear descriptions like “sporty” when it comes to the design of modern megayachts. In the case of the ISA Sportiva 66, the word is literally in the description. “Sportiva” translates exactly to that meaning from Italian. An American cruising enthusiast has signed the dotted line for this shapely project. Although the builder is keeping most details confidential for now, the yacht does mark a few big firsts for ISA Yachts.
If you take a look at recent concept designs as well as recent deliveries from the shipyard, which is a division of Palumbo Superyachts, you certainly will see sculpted styling. The ISA Granturismo series (a.k.a. GT series) as well as the similarly sounding ISA Super Sportivo series are perfect examples. Each of these designs comes from different studios, too, it’s worth noting. But, they keep to a sort of family styling, to ensure that yacht watchers know the projects are from ISA Yachts.
The 216-foot (66-meter) ISA Sportiva 66 follows that practice, yet still has her own flair, from Nuvolari-Lenard. In fact, this yacht is the first time the shipyard and design studio are working together. (The shipyard’s own naval-architecture department is involved as well.) Giuseppe Palumbo, director of Palumbo Superyachts, calls attention to the profile having what he calls “the iconic features of the brand,” including a reverse bow. Dan Lenard of Nuvolari-Lenard considers this a “powerful ‘muscle yacht’ design” that simultaneously reflects “elegance of its sleekness, coming from the lengthy hull.”
The ISA Sportiva 66 is further the first in what the shipyard says is a new series. Naturally, the series is the Sportiva line. While ISA Yachts has not revealed other models, it does say that this project will see delivery in 2025.
An American-based team is supporting the owner throughout the build. The team includes Ian Kerr, a surveyor with Kerr Maritime. He’s responsible for creating the technical specifications and serving as the owner’s site representative.
