Tankoa’s 50-meter series celebrated a special moment on March 19. The fourth Tankoa S501, bearing the name Kinda and being an all-aluminum project, saw her official launch at the shipyard in Genoa. Of course, in keeping with a happy occasion, festive confetti filled the air, with the colors of the Italian flag.
Tankoa created the series with Francesco Paszkowski Design several years ago. The target buyers are cruisers who want good spaces while remaining within the 500-gross-ton mark. Measuring 163’7” (49.9 meters), the latest launch has some things in common with her predecessors. For instance, similar to Bintador, the owner of Kinda wanted hybrid propulsion. The system includes a pair of MTU diesel engines and two 300-kW electric motors, with twin variable-speed gensets driving those motors. In fact, the owner, who acquired the yacht in late 2020, specifically requested hybrid propulsion. It allows three types of cruising modes. In traditional cruising mode (diesel-mechanical), the yacht should see a top speed of 16½ knots. In diesel-electric mode, she should achieve 10½ knots. Finally, in entirely electric mode, the megayacht should achieve 12 knots. “We are very satisfied with the performance in the various configurations,” shares Vincenzo Poerio, Tankoa’s CEO.

Although the build and design teams are not releasing all details just yet, Kinda does have a difference compared to the rest of the series. The owner requested a swimming pool on the main deck.
Tankoa will continue outfitting the megayacht over the next few weeks. Delivery is taking place late next month.
Furthermore, Tankoa continues working on the fifth hull in the series. She, however, has traditional diesel propulsion and is on pace for completion by the end of the year. Hull number six is under construction, too, also on spec. Besides the S501 projects, Tankoa has other series builds in various stages of completion. One is the T55 Sportiva, with designer Luca Dini, which just went under contract this year. Another is the T450, with designer Giorgio M. Cassetta. Additionally, Paszkowski and Tankoa jointly have the T580 in build.
