Australia-based Silver Yachts gained renowned for custom, high-performance projects like Silver Fast and continues constructing some of the largest aluminum megayachts on the water. Its nascent SilverCat series of smaller, semi-custom catamaran designs now has representation stateside. Denison Yachting is handling sales for the Americas and Caribbean.
Silver Yachts got its start in 2005, working then and now with designer Espen Øino. It launched its first yacht two years later. The 240-foot (73.3.-meter) Silver, now Rabdan, ranked as the world’s largest aluminum yacht at that time. The shipyard’s most recent delivery, the 280-foot (85.3-meter) Bold from 2019, proved her prowess as an explorer. She made a 21-day, 8,000-nautical-mile maiden voyage from Perth, Australia to Cala di Volpe, Italy. Furthermore, she did so with just one refueling.
With an extra shipyard in China, Silver Yachts announced a catamaran series, SpaceCat, about two years ago. The series now also goes by the name SilverCat, and includes 36-, 24-, and 22-meter (118-, 79-, and 72-foot) models. The first SilverCat hull is already in build and under contract. She’s a 118-footer nearing launch, in fact. Given catamarans’ beamy nature, this megayacht (pictured) boasts 2,174 square feet (202 square meters) of open deck space aft on her main deck. Additionally, she has accommodations for eight to 10 in the owners’ party, with a twin stateroom containing Pullmans. These staterooms spread across the lower, main, and upper decks, too. Further noteworthy, all five crewmembers and the captain have en suite baths in their cabins. In keeping with Silver Yachts’ initial focus, this SilverCat should see a swift 22 knots.
Rod Davies, COO of Silver Yachts’ Chinese yard, is excited about both the pending launch and the Denison Yachting partnership. “It is clear the style and space the yacht offers are second to none,” he declares. Regarding Denison, he adds, “Denison’s reputation, history, and capabilities are leading this industry and a perfect fit for our product line.”
Denison Yachting has selected Tony Smith to be the SilverCat and Silver Yachts brand manager. “We see very high demand in the Americas and the Caribbean for luxury catamarans,” he says. “Denison is confident in the high quality and manufacturing ability of Silver Yachts, having first-hand experience on their larger superyachts.”
