The keel laying for hull number one of the Crossover 40 series from Columbus Yachts took place in May. With delivery expected in 2024, there’s still plenty of opportunity for buyers to tailor her to their tastes.
Columbus Yachts decided to start the build on spec, at its Savona, Italy shipyard. “Crossover” refers to a mix of being a private island unto herself and serving yacht-support duties, especially holding lots of toys. With this in mind, Hydro Tec lends her explorer looks, with a house-forward profile and an elongated, open deck aft. That open area suits several different tenders and toys, including one extra-large tender. In fact, the 132-footer (40-meter) can handle a boat to 26 feet (8 meters) LOA and 2.5 tons in weight.

The aluminum and steel Crossover 40 can take owners and guests to far-flung places to enjoy those toys, too. Columbus Yachts expects a best range of 4,000 nautical miles with twin Caterpillar C32 engines. Her top speed should exceed 14 ½ knots, too.
Although the Crossover 40 is in build on spec, Francesco Guida is penning interior proposals. To generate interest, and to harken to the “crossover” concept, an exploration theme pervades the rooms. You’ll find three VIP staterooms and one additional guest stateroom below decks. Of course, you’ll also find the master suite on the main deck. Contemporary colors and an overall soothing ambience are in store, too.
