Wider Yachts is increasingly turning its focus to U.S. shores to find interested clientele. To ensure its largest offerings get attention, it’s partnered with Northrop & Johnson. So far, the Wider 170 (above) and Wider 210 (below) each have exclusive representation with the brokerage firm.
“It’s a match that will catapult Wider a step ahead in our ambitious plans,” says Marcello Maggi, Wider Yachts’ president. (Maggi additionally heads the holding company that owns Wider Yachts.) He particularly makes note of Northrop & Johnson’s strong connections not only with buyers, but also within the industry. Furthermore, he believes the company’s experience with yacht management provides a benefit.
Joe Foggia is the direct representative for the Wider 170 and 210 (the LOAs in feet) at Northrop & Johnson. Construction will take place at Wider’s new facility in Venice, Italy. That shipyard will solely build superyachts, too, with design and engineering from Wider’s own in-house departments. Although other regions of Italy are higher profile for large private yachts, Maggi says Venice has had craftspeople skilled in metal work for decades.
Additionally, Venice is the same facility where the keel-laying ceremony for the Moonflower 72 took place in August. Her LOA is approximately 230 feet (70 meters). The ceremony occurred just a few months after the contract signing, last January. With styling, naval architecture, and interiors from Nauta Design, the Moonflower 72 should see delivery in 2025.
As for the Wider 170 and 210, each is a custom project, for clients to personalize as they see fit. The suggested features include helipads and aft-deck pools, among other amenities. Specific to the 210, 14 passengers can stay aboard. A highlight is the upper deck remaining exclusively for the owners. Naturally, the suite is full-beam, with an office and an alfresco lounge just aft of the helipad. Interestingly, the Wider 170 can also accommodate 14, with four to six staterooms for guests below decks. Plus, her beach club can be the primary lounging area onboard.
The agreement with Northrop & Johnson does not impact similar exclusivity deals that Wider has. For instance, earlier this year, Wider tapped MarineMax to distribute it power catamarans. Notably, Maggi says the new partnership “mirrors” the MarineMax agreement.
The Wider 170 and 210 are asking €55,000,000 and €32,500,000, respectively. Each can see delivery in 2024.
