Straight bow, elegance, and clean lines. Tankoa Yachts’ Kinda is a seafarer’s superyacht, born to sail anywhere and anyway you like. Just like her owner did last summer. After the delivery in June 2022, he used her for 72 days without a break. This is a reflection of why he commissioned the yacht in the first place. “His intention was to spend as much time as possible onboard and to work from far away as well,” explains Guido Orsi, Tankoa’s marketing and communications manager. “She is perfect place to reunite the whole family and spend their free time together.”

Launched in March 2022, Kinda is the fourth hull in Tankoa’s 164-foot (50-meter) all-aluminum series, designed by Francesco Paszkowski. She’s further the second hybrid-powered unit. Kinda’s propulsion, developed by MAN and Siemens, provides three cruising modes: diesel-mechanical, diesel-electric, and full electric. Selecting the most appropriate mode of cruising for the situation reduces fuel consumption and extends the servicing time of the generators. So, for example, in battery-only mode at anchor, Kinda produces no noise or emissions.

Additionally, the more eco-friendly nature of her hybrid propulsion allows her access to protected areas that fully diesel-powered yachts cannot enter. “This model has been sold to different clients for different areas of the world so far,” Orsi says. The transatlantic range, he explains, is a major reason that she has no specific target market. Interestingly, though, the relatively shallow draft of 7’9” (2.4 meters) and top speed of 17 knots make her perfect for the American market, Orsi says, especially for the shallow waters of the Caribbean.

Tankoa Yachts’ Kinda has the same low-slung, contemporary profile that has defined the success of the line. “The owner literally fell in love with her exterior design, recalling the automotive sector,” Orsi continues. Because the owner plans to spend a lot of time onboard, the yacht has plenty of areas to feel surrounded by nature. For instance, besides being the welcoming area, the beach area has an extending platform. The foredeck, meanwhile, has a huge, shadable wellness area, with a large sunpad and a special owner-requested pool. About 1,321 gallons (5,000 liters) of water flow continuously, providing endless moments of relaxation physically and audibly for everyone. Up top, the sundeck is entirely for sunbathing in privacy, plus has an alfresco galley and pop-up tables.

More special requests from the owner are throughout the interior. The fluid layout provides an elegant main-deck master stateroom (above) with a private office and hammam-equipped bathroom. A full-beam VIP suite is next to the owner’s apartment, while four guest cabins are on the lower deck. The bright upper-deck lounge caters to family time, further with a TV corner and connecting to the exterior terrace.

Created by Francesco Paszkowski in collaboration with Margherita Casprini, the interiors of Tankoa Yachts’ Kinda reflect the owner’s desire for a contemporary and refined environment. Paszkowski notes that natural materials, glossy and matte finishes, nuances of soft, harmonious colors for fabrics, and dark, contrasting shades for some accessories create coherence. Indeed, brushed oak lies underfoot, while light-toned lacquered surfaces cover ceilings. Leather panels in various shades of grey with highlighted joints cover the walls, too. Sandblasted Botticino marble enriches the floors in the bathrooms, while the interplay of brown, bronze, and black streaks of the Saint Laurent Velvet and Velvet Brown marble in matt or glossy finishes embellish the bathroom wet surfaces.

Kinda is enriched with millions of stylistic details, including the use of mirrors to dilate space and give a sense of infinity. Works of art form the owner’s private collection embellish the yacht as well. Together with a selection of furniture from Italian brands such as Minotti, Gallotti & Radice, and Kettal and Talenti, the whole has a charming atmosphere and a special home flavor. Just like the owner wanted.
