With her owner on hand, the entry-level model in the full-displacement Mangusta Oceanco superyacht series floated on her lines for the first time on May 31. The Mangusta Oceano 39 yacht hull number one shows off the striking styling that will begin characterizing the larger models, too.
Nicknamed “an oceangoing glass villa” by her builder, the yacht has primarily glass bulwarks, which additionally are frameless in many places. Even handrails aboard the 129-foot (39-meter) motoryacht are glass. This enhances the already-excellent views from inside, where floor-to-ceiling glass characterizes several rooms, especially the upper-deck lounge. In fact, the side panels slide open, complementing the traditional opening aft-deck glass doors. The same holds true on the main deck, in the saloon. Altogether, the idea is “to offer the closest possible contact with the sea,” says Maurizio Balducci, Overmarine Group’s CEO.
Notably, even the beach club has glass. The port and starboard sides have triple windows. While these sides flip up for an airier look and feel, they can remain in the closed position. The windows therefore bring in more light to the waterside lounge if just the transom is open.
The styling for the Mangusta Oceano 39 yacht series is from Overmarine Group’s longtime collaborator, Alberto Mancini. (On a related note, the designer also worked with the owner and the Overmarine Group’s in-house team for the interior.) While the significant sections of glass catch your eye, the soft curves and a few sharp lines amid the three decks do, too.
Overall, the series encourages owners and guests to enjoy living at sea. Further platforms flanking the swim platform fold down for boarding watertoys. They have deployable swim ladders, too. Additionally, an infinity pool fully forward on the uppermost deck lends the feeling of floating over the ocean.
Even when in the master stateroom, the owner will still feel that connection. Water reflections are overhead, coming from the glass bottom of the just-mentioned infinity pool. A deployable balcony helps as well.
