Presently in build, the newest Fast line megayacht from Extra Yachts remains faithful to the family looks, but takes styling and interior design in new directions. The X90 Fast yacht promises more glass and of course more space with more elegance.
The project joins a series that includes models like the Extra X99 Fast, all of which are classed to RINA specifications and boast beamy stances. They additionally feature generous alfresco areas, especially aft. Thus far the Fast series has featured sporty styling and primarily angular lines, complementing strong performance. The new X90 Fast yacht, by contrast, has smoother, softer lines mixed with sharp ones, still accompanying a good turn of speed.
Extra Yachts’ parent company, Palumbo Superyachts, chose fellow Italian company Hot Lab to re-imagine the line. “These are projects intended for mature owners and with different characteristics, though sharing the unique and unmistakable brand philosophy that has distinguished Extra Yachts,” notes Enrico Lumini, Hot Lab’s founding partner. To that end, you’ll still find a galley adjoining the aft deck, with a lowering window, too. You’ll further still find two and a half decks, inside of which the saloon occupies most of the main deck.
A few twists on the tried-and-true layout, though, are aboard. For example, the lowering window sits adjacent to not only crew’s quarters access, but also sundeck access. The crew’s quarters, two cabins each with en suite heads, are forward of the engine room. Extra Yachts and Hot Lab decided on this passageway/access to preserve privacy for the internal helm and the foredeck lounge (above). Of course, guests can still access the sundeck (below) via side decks. Overall, you get about 926 square feet (86 square meters) of usable alfresco space.
A surely-comfortable 23 feet (7.1 meters) of beam particularly benefits the master suite inside, amidships below decks. Eight more friends and family have four staterooms down here as well.
As for performance, Extra Yachts chose triple Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines, generating 1,000 each. This package should deliver a top speed of 30 knots, living up to the model name. The cruising speed, meanwhile, is a still-quick 24 knots. You still can use the small superyacht for long distances, too. The X90 Fast yacht should see a best range of 1,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
Look for hull number one to debut at the 2024 boat shows.
