Galley Aft, or Forward? CLB80 Yacht Lets You Choose

A common complaint among semi-custom megayacht buyers is there’s a lack of real layout choice. Essentially, the builders limit the customization to colors, tones, and textures. CL Yachts is taking a different route, offering a handful of configurations for the new CLB80 yacht. Not only that, but some of them may pleasantly surprise owners seeking something really diverse.

At nearly 82 feet (25 meters), the new model in CL Yachts’ B Series is good for customers who want more space than the CLB72 offers, yet aren’t ready for the CLB88, the series flagship. For series continuity, yet also design elements of her own, CL Yachts collaborated once again with Jozeph Forakis. The sportiness of the B Series blends with boomerang-like fashion plates aft in the superstructure. Forakis further elongated the windows on all decks, for modern flair plus of course more enjoyable views and natural light inside. The saloon and skylounge windows additionally lower and raise electrically.

The layout surprises start on the main deck. Most megayachts in this size range situate the galley forward. While you certainly can have that, too, you can request it aft instead (below). CL Yachts believes the aft configuration for the CLB80 yacht lends a more casual, family-friendly feel. Because the aft configuration also comes with an electrically lowering window, the chef—whether a formal crewmember or a member of the family—and guests can enjoy more conversations and overall interactions.

Yet another unexpected feature is the dining table itself. Barstool-height, it slides out of the way and folds to become either a side table or bar top accompanying the galley. This way, buyers of the CLB80 yacht have more flexibility for entertaining big groups.

Also available with one or two helm stations, the CLB80 yacht provides so many mix-and-match options because of how CL Yachts is building the series. It’s using modular construction, with each “pod” also containing window frames, built-in furnishings like settees and vanities, as well as bed headboards.

Speaking of beds, four staterooms are available for owners and guests. Naturally, the master stateroom is full beam, also benefitting from the elongated windows. The VIP sits forward, accentuated with a skylight, while twins flank the guest foyer. All four staterooms are below decks, too. If you plan to run the CLB80 yacht with crew, two crew cabins, with separate access, are down here as well.

Whether you’re an owner-operator or you prefer crew, you’ll appreciate the versatility of two more areas onboard. Firstly, the yacht has a compact galley in the beach club. It ensures swift service to guests gathered around the adjustable table in here. That table can serve as a cocktail or coffee table, rise for dining, or lower flush with the settee to become a big beach pad. Plus, when guests are elsewhere onboard and the transom is closed, crew can use the area as a lounge and their mess if you wish. Overall, you can tailor the area to your and your crew’s needs. Regardless, vertical windows in the transom bring in light.

Secondly, and lastly, the skylounge—what CL Yachts calls the CLB80 yacht’s “sky deck”—can do double duty for dining and toy stowage. A davit is standard, as is a barbecue. The already-mentioned option for a second helm can go here, too.
