Every yacht that a shipyard builds is special. But, the Baltic 121 Custom yacht currently under construction is a little more exciting than usual. “We have delivered 12 yachts over 100 feet LOA in the last 10 years, all within their contractual weight targets, within their original budget, and on average within a week of their contractual delivery dates,” says Henry Hawkins, executive vice president at Baltic Yachts.
Besides marking the 13th anticipated delivery in the 100-foot-plus size range, the new sloop is notable for several reasons. Firstly, the owners are passionate sailors who enjoy wide-ranging family cruising. They wanted a high-performance, blue-water cruiser to take them on their journeys. Naturally, they also wanted proven safety and operational systems for peace of mind. They turned to Malcolm McKeon, head of the eponymous design studio, for naval architecture and styling. “This design features an all-carbon structure, a telescopic keel, a fixed bimini, and a generous sailplan,” he notes. Altogether, these should deliver reliable performance in a variety of conditions, he adds.
Aesthetically, meanwhile, the owners of the Baltic 121 Custom yacht had a few further things in mind. Streamlined, modern looks were among them. A good deal of glass dominates, too, to the point where it’s nearly the entire deckhouse. McKeon points out that this not only complements the superyacht’s contemporary styling, but also creates “a light and open interior” with 360-degree views.
As for that interior, the owners are working with Adam Lay Studio. Yet again, modern is the watchword. Adam Lay, head of the studio, specifically says that the overall look draws upon “our studio’s modern, nature-inspired, textural approach with clean lines and muted wood tones.” He also says that fabrics will suit the simultaneous needs for practicality and durability due to the extensive sailing plans. Of course, they’ll also help set the scene for “relaxed family cruising.”
Unfortunately, no other design details are available about the project at this time.
Look for delivery of the Baltic 121 Custom yacht toward the end of 2026.
