Typically, megayachts exceeding 80 meters (262 feet) have four decks, even five if tank decks are part of the design. Interestingly, the Lürssen yacht Haven, which comes in at an LOA of two meters more (269 feet LOA), breaks with tradition. In fact, she’s a trideck. But, don’t say “just” a trideck. “Every inch of Haven will be beautiful, personal, and functional,” says Mattia Mazzacchi, head of interiors at RWD.

Having launched in October as Project Cali, the yacht belongs to a family who love the outdoors lifestyle. They further enjoy spending time together diving, participating in watersports, and more. They knew exactly what they wanted in a yacht, particularly substantial alfresco spaces and a family-focused layout. An especially strong example of the space allocation aboard the yacht Haven is the sundeck. It’s 98 feet (30 meters) long and encompasses an extraordinary 3,229 square feet (300 square meters), Equally extraordinary, ceiling heights are 8’2” (2.5 meters). Windbreakers can move into place when needed, too.
Of course, good storage for watertoys and dive gear was important for the yacht Haven as well, as was an ample beach club. The beach club additionally has fold-down platforms to become terraces above the ocean.

Inside, meanwhile, the owners had an equally clear vision. “Our team went on a journey with the owners and their family to create a distinct design vocabulary,” Mazzucchi says. The result is a contemporary ambience that remains “playful and timeless,” he adds. Furthermore, eye-catching artwork is everywhere. “Bold, confident, fun, and energetic, where the joy of color takes center stage,” he explains.
Confident seems to be a good way to describe the owners’ overall decision-making process for design. Jim Robert Sluijter, an in-house designer at Lürssen, created her styling. “Haven has barely changed from the original sketch,” he notes, a rarity. Rather than tower over the water like many large superyachts, she has a low profile. Sluijter additionally used twisting, concave patterns across the superstructure to reflect the water’s movement depending on the sun’s angle. “Thanks to an interplay of light and glazing, all interior spaces are well connected with the outdoors,” he concludes.

The yacht Haven departed Lürssen on June 17 for the family’s first trip aboard.
