Codecasa’s craftspeople and the head of the Italian marine-industry association Confindustria Nautica welcomed a new megayacht on July 27. The yacht Gioia lowered into the water in Viareggio that morning, proving the shipyard made a good decision a few years ago.
The project is the latest in the Codecasa 43 series, specifically the sixth yacht. The shipyard began construction on spec, too (below), because of successfully selling so many prior hulls in the series. The 141-footer (43-meter) is among the few megayachts in this size range featuring a steel hull as well. Most are either aluminum or fiberglass.
Codecasa’s in-house design team is responsible for the series styling. The focus was a yacht with classical appeal, yet not so traditional that she’d look pigeonholed in a particular era. So, for instance, you’ll find a vertical bow, which is both a time-honored and modern design. A mix of angles and curves characterize the superyacht’s profile as well.

The owner is still keeping most details about the interior private. It’s not that surprising, either, considering the yacht went by her hull number, Codecasa C124, during construction. The yacht Gioia does, though, have an air of grace and sophistication throughout. The owner chose to work with Cor D. Rover Design to create well-dressed areas to welcome family and friends. These include two saloons, for instance, as well as four guest staterooms. All of the guest accommodations are below decks as well, in keeping with tradition. The owner’s suite is forward on the main deck, as you would further expect. The yacht Gioia has a total of three decks, with the uppermost being an open-air sundeck with a hot tub.
Catching some rays or just enjoying the ride on the sundeck certainly will be what the owner and guests want to do. Codecasa engineered the yacht for leisurely passages and good range. Specifically, the shipyard anticipates a top speed of 16 knots (at light load) and a best range of 4,000 nautical miles at 11 knots. It’s more than enough for the private travels that will follow in the next several months.
