Cookson Adventures leads owners and their guests on explorations of a lifetime. It does the same for charter guests. To strengthen and expand its reach into the superyacht market, the company has brought a well-known captain and owner’s representative onboard. Kevin O’Conor is Cookson Adventures’ new head of yachts.
O’Conor has worn several hats over the past 20 years. Firstly, he was at the helm of power and sailing superyachts to 295 feet (90 meters). During those 10 years alone, he completed two circumnavigations. Next, he worked on behalf of owners to supervise their custom builds. O’Conor additionally managed several yachts belonging to a personal estate that placed multiple other assets under his watch. More recently, O’Conor ran the US office for Rossinavi.
Based in Palm Beach, Florida, O’Conor is collaborating with Cookson Adventures’ project managers to create memorable yacht and submersible trips globally. His focus is forging relationships with owners, owners’ representatives, captains, and brokers, among others. Whether customers wish to explore remote tropical destinations or venture to icy regions, they’ll find he shares their enthusiasm. In fact, O’Conor has raced in the King’s Cup regatta in Thailand, for instance, plus gone scuba diving in multiple oceans. He’s further gone heli-skiing down super-steep Alaskan mountains. He additionally is passionate about kite surfing, wing foiling, free diving, and spearfishing.
Considering there’s still a strong appetite for adventure travel, O’Conor is looking forward to making “transformational journeys” possible, he says. “Cookson Adventures has an impressive reputation within the industry for creativity and originality,” he asserts. “Pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in private travel” is its specialty, he adds.
Nick Davies, Cookson Adventures’ managing director, says, “It’s the perfect time to bring someone of Kevin’s pedigree and versatility onboard.” He points to ongoing growth among American customers, for example. He further notes that this is the company’s 15th anniversary. Founder Henry Cookson established it in 2009 based on his own love of adventure in untapped, remote regions. Among the experiences it has created since then, the yacht Harle unearthed major scientific discoveries in Sicily. Cookson Adventures further enabled the first private manned sub dive in Antarctica.
Regardless of destination, the company can arrange for award-winning photographers, marine biologists, and other specialists to accompany voyages.
