AB 110 Yacht Expands SportFly Superyacht Cruising

Fast-looking and fast-performing yachts still get some yacht owners’ hearts racing. The first AB 110 yacht, which hit the water yesterday, builds on this desire. She’s a flying-bridge cruiser capable of reaching the Bahamas from the mainland USA, among other warm-weather destinations, quickly.

With black paint making her fiberglass and Kevlar superstructure blend with the smoked-glass windows, the 110-footer (34-meter) marks a new style direction. Marco Casamonti of Archea Associati, the artistic director for AB Yachts’ parent company, the Next Yacht Group, has penned sleek lines, similar to the model’s sisterships. But, she has a more open transom, too, picking up on the trend of open-air beach clubs. Once outfitting begins, the AB 110 yacht will have big lounging areas just off the swim platform and on the aft deck. They’re meant to look and feel like an extension of the saloon, since so many customers indulge in indoor-outdoor living.

Much of the megayacht unfolds the same way. In fact, AB Yachts characterizes the overall approach as a layout where alfresco areas and interiors flow fluidly from one to the other. Additionally, an airy interior akin to a loft keeps owners and guests relaxed while at anchor or between destinations.

Getting from one destination to the other is half the fun, of course. AB Yachts has long prioritized performance and waterjet propulsion, and the AB 110 yacht carries on the tradition. Sea trials should confirm a top speed of 45 knots. The skinny-water draft of just four feet (1.25 meters) additionally means a lot of beachy, palm-fringed shores are accessible.

Although illustrations or photos aren’t available, the interior of the AB 110 yacht includes four staterooms, all below decks. Naturally, the master suite is full beam. Two of the twin staterooms have pullmans, too, for a total sleeping capacity of 10 people.

While final outfitting and sea trials are on the upcoming task list for the shipyard, so, too, is work on a larger model. The AB 125 yacht will be the new flagship.
