A 154-footer (47-meter) megayacht is on order for an owner already familiar with Benetti. Known by her hull number, FB703, for the time being, she should splash in February 2019.
Benetti is keeping the majority of details about the megayacht close to its vest. The few facts revealed include a traditional steel hull and aluminum superstructure. In addition, the steel hull is an equally traditional full-displacement design. Therefore, FB703 should be engineered for moderate speeds and long range, including ocean crossings.
The yacht is traditional in yet another way. She’ll have accommodations for 12 people in the owner’s party, in six staterooms. As you might expect, the master suite will sit forward on the main deck.
While we don’t know details on the woods, marbles, and other decor aspects, Benetti does say that FB703 marks a first-time collaboration with Mauricio Gómez de Tuddo. He’s a Mexican designer who specializes in architecture and overall design. He established his studio, Gomez de Tuddo Arquitectos, in 1991. Since then, the 500-plus projects springing from his studio span commercial, naval, religious, residential, and sports designs. (On a side note, he does have yacht experience, designing both an Azimut 116 and a Horizon 116 in the early 2000s.) For FB703, Benetti will only say that he’s emphasizing open-air living spaces.
FB703, with naval architecture and styling by Benetti’s in-house department, should see delivery in June 2019.
