A launch from Custom Line’s newest series has, simultaneously, closed one chapter and opened a new one. The Saetta 128 yacht, which lowered into the water on September 30, departs from past Custom Line projects and hints at what’s to come.
The model sparks a change for the Custom Line planing series, featuring styling by SY Design, new to the brand. “We were hugely motivated by the challenge of creating a new trideck model, but one with sporty dynamic lines because Custom Line Saetta 128 has a planing hull,” SY Design’s founders, Matteo Sassone and Veronic Yien, explained for the initial announcement. That type of hull is “an unprecedented choice for a yacht this size,” they noted, correctly. Her LOA is 131 feet (39.8 meters), a realm where most megayachts have semi-displacement hulls. “Our goal was to innovate the distinctive features of the range and integrate new character traits,” the designers add. Those new details further “an act as a springboard for the future.”

Previously, Custom Line superyachts have showed off sporty lines and an abundance of glass. SY Design keeps to that tradition, yet amplifies both. The angles and overall architecture of each deck bear lines that sweep forward, culminating in a sharp bow. They lend an air of liveliness to the Saetta 128 yacht’s profile, hinting at what she does underway. A planing hull produces higher speeds than a semi-displacement hull does. Therefore, sea trials should confirm a 22-knot maximum speed. Cruising speed should be 19 knots.
The owners and their family have a few alfresco areas where they can enjoy that ride together. The main aft deck and cozy foredeck provide the closest experiences to the water, for example. Aft, everyone has shaded seating amid 355 square feet (33 square meters) of space. A U-shaped settee forward, meanwhile, keeps family close as well. (On a related note, at anchor, it’s perfect for sunbathing, thanks to a sunpad. Future owners can request a hot tub, too.) Slightly larger than the aft deck, the area aft of the skylounge is ideal for trying to spot dolphins and sea birds along the way. And, although cruisers usually reserve the sundeck for times at anchor, it’s more than ready for horizon spotting, measuring 323 square feet (30 square meters).

For the series interiors, Custom Line and ACPV Architects created two décor packages, the Perfet Mood and Classic Mood. These owners selected the Perfect Mood, which features rich chocolate and mocha hues contrasting with white marbles and textured ivory wallpaper. Further setting the scene are walnut and maple. The Classic Mood is a bit more subdued yet still warm in look and feel, with oak among the materials. The Perfect Mood flows from the saloon through the master suite, both on the main deck, and to the four guest staterooms below. It also, of course, highlights the skylounge, which spans 215 square feet (20 square meters) and has opening glass on three sides.
This Saetta 128 is the first of three already sold. Her delivery should take place before the end of the year.
