What began as a concept design to stimulate clients’ imaginations has become a reality. The first hull of Alpha Custom Yachts’ Alpha Squalo Trenta yacht is under contract. True to her name, she has strong, muscular looks but of course a softer, more luxurious side, too.
In Italian, “squalo” means “shark.” In designing what was initially a 97-footer (29.6-meter), Roberto Curtó drew inspiration from this predator. The high, vertical bow conveys strength and toughness, as do some of the vertical lines in the styling. Simultaneously, the now-98-foot (nearly 30-meter) motoryacht reflects sportiness.

The owners, represented by Denison Yachting, chose the Alppha Squalo Trenta yacht for a few reasons. “The client’s detailed build spec called for a yacht under 100 feet with a huge interior volume, expert craftsmanship, and a shallow draft,” explains David Johnson, their broker. “The Squalo was the perfect option.” The yacht features a wide beam for her LOA, nearly 26 feet (8 meters). Draft, meanwhile, is a shallow-water-friendly 5’7” (1.73 meters).
Being a semi-custom superyacht (like the Alpha Spritz 116 and other series), the raised-pilothouse project affords the owners wide choices inside. The owners selected a main-deck master suite, along with four guest staterooms below decks. Generally speaking, the master bed can face forward or aft, with floor-to-ceiling windows flooding it with natural light either way. The open plan aft, meanwhile, combines the saloon and interior dining area.

But, since essentially everyone who cruises wants to stay outside as much as possible, alfresco areas are tailored, too. The owners and guests will enjoy shaded dining on the main aft deck, near a plunge pool. More shaded dining is one level up. For on-water playtime, toys launch from a garage just beneath the pool.
Construction is already underway. This Alpha Squalo Trenta yacht should see delivery in March of next year.
