The turning of the aluminum hull for a new 60-meter from Perini Navi took place in March. Although the Italian yard won’t reveal her real name, she simply goes by her project name, Perini Navi hull 2218.
A 197-footer, the yacht specifically marks the second contract for the builder’s current 60m sloop series. It was a painstaking process of turning the hull from the upside-down position, which is how construction initially takes place, to right-side up. All operations occurred in Tuzla, Turkey, where Perini Navi constructs nearly every hull and superstructure.

By the end of this summer, the Perini Navi hull 2218 will reach a readiness point to transfer the builder’s Viareggio shipyard. There, she’ll pair with the aluminum superstructure and undergo outfitting.
Delivery is on pace for the summer of 2014.
