In the song reference above, Billy Joel sang “Some folks like to get away/take a holiday from the neighborhood…” He goes on to describe how there’s nothing like his home state. Well, maybe I’m biased because I’m a born and raised New Yorker, but judging from the cruising I did on Long Island Sound this weekend, it seems the owners of Westport’s Vango, Broward’s True North, and Hargrave’s Dream share the sentiment. They were all docked in Port Washington, New York–a terrific town that’s anything but a megayacht mecca.
And that’s as good a reason as any to take a holiday from the neighborhood.
