People on this side of the Atlantic aren’t the only ones concerned about the reconstruction of the Abacos following Hurricane Dorian. Baglietto has pledged to donate funds from the contract of their Abaco concept design to the cause. Fittingly, the megayacht design revolves around cruising the shallow waters of the Bahamas.
Both Baglietto and the designers from Santa Maria Magnolfi were inspired to do something to embrace the islands’ spirit. An all-aluminum 131-footer (40-meter), the Abaco concept emphasizes open spaces close to the water’s surface. For instance, the main aft deck has more alfresco area than most megayachts of her size range. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors flanking a bar and seating area in the forward section slide open to maximize that alfresco space. If you so wish, you can further slide open windows both port and starboard in the adjacent saloon. Regardless, still outside, terraced sections flow aft, straight past an infinity pool and down to the swim platform. In total, the Baglietto Abaco concept creates about 1,615 square feet (150 square meters) of single-level outdoor living.
Even more outdoor living enjoyment comes when you consider the foredeck, upper deck, and sundeck. In fact, they total 1,830 square feet (170 square meters). Enjoy lunch in the shade of the hardtop on the upper deck, for example. Curl up with your favorite book on the settees here, or just stretch out and enjoy the views. The bow offers more dining options or, alternately, sundowner options, in a pretty private setting, too. Of course, Baglietto and Santa Maria Magnolfi will set up these deck areas the way you want.
They do, though, anticipate you wanting a comfortable interior keeping a common theme to the outdoor living idea. Therefore, the Baglietto Abaco concept has a suggested interior design with abundant teak. Further natural materials like linen, raffia, and straw are incorporated, too, from the master suite to the four below-decks staterooms.
Whatever Bahamian islands you wish to cruise, the Baglietto Abaco concept should see a 17.5-knot maximum speed under Caterpillar power. You can request a hybrid propulsion package instead, though. You can also request stowage for a variety of toys, including a primary tender measuring nearly 20 feet (6 meters).
