Going for a hike is one thing, but climbing the three highest peaks in the British Isles, and doing so in the name of charity, is quite another.
That’s what some of Quantum Marine’s employees did recently. Staff from its U.S., Dutch, and British offices participated in the Three Peaks Challenge, which involved climbing Scafell in England, Snowdon in Wales, and Ben Nevis in Scotland, all within the same 24 hours–a total of nearly 11,200 feet. By signing up sponsors, the Quantum employees were able to raise $19,400, all donated to Kids in Distress. The charity is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family, and the care and treatment of abused and neglected children.
Some of the companies that sponsored the Quantum climbers–one of whom reached the peak in 11 hours and 16 minutes, pretty amazing–include National Marine, Fowlers Sheet Metal, Jones Boatyard, and Atlantic Marine.
