Whether you’re the owner of a 40-footer or 400-footer, you want your yacht’s entertainment system to stand apart. So imagine the setup being installed aboard a 340-foot superyacht in Oman right now.
That yacht, possibly Al Said, is undergoing a major refit, part of which includes installing equipment in all 10 guest staterooms, five “VVIP” staterooms (certainly outfitted far more lavishly than “just” a VIP), the private cinema, saloons, and all alfresco areas. As for those VVIPs, their en suite baths will also have audio control.
Lantic Systems, a Danish company that specifically targets megayachts, is carrying out the project, through Elcome International, a Dubai-based electronics sales and service company. A key part of the entertainment-system installation is ensuring that speakers, wall keypads, and other components make as minimal impact as possible on the decor. While no specifics were given on what the megayacht’s interior is like, based on the design of other Middle Eastern-owned yachts, this 340-footer is likely ornate with remarkable detail.
However, there are specifics on what Lantic Systems is installing. For entertainment, there will be both audio and video on demand, public playlists accessible throughout the yacht, iPod integration in select areas, Internet access, integration of the owner’s choice of satellite TV tuners as well as land-based TV, and photo album integration (meaning photos can be called up on TV screens throughout the yacht). If someone is interested in learning a bit about where the yacht is cruising, he or she can call up the ocean charts on the TV located in any room. Another nice touch: wake-up call requests.
The Lantic Systems’ setup will also be interfaced with security cameras. If the crew wishes to see who or what is around the yacht, they’ll be able to press a camera button on the proprietary remote controls the Danish company will also provide. And if the owner or guests need the crew’s help, they’ll need only press the crew call button; the crew, in turn, will know what area of the yacht the person is in and be able to respond quickly.
