The suspect in the shooting death of Drew Gollan, the captain of Perseus, has been ordered held without bail on suspicion of murder.
According to local and international news reports, Sylvester Lindsey appeared in the All Saints Magistrates Court in St. Johns, Antigua, on Monday and was charged with shooting and killing Gollan as well as shooting and intending to kill his girlfriend, Alena Sitkova.
After he was denied bail and led out of the court, he smiled and gave a thumbs-up sign for the cameras and onlookers, according to reports.
Lindsey will return to court on May 13 for a pre-trial hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to formally charge him with murder.
In the meantime, increased foot patrols and police monitoring of the English Harbour area, where the assault took place, apparently continue.
