Super-size charter parties now have another super-size superyacht to book in the Med this summer: the 104-meter (341-foot) Loaloat Al Behar.
This is the first time the yacht is being made available for charter. The news comes from Fraser Yachts, whose Monaco office has the central listing. While the sheer size of Loaloat Al Behar – including her 16.2-meter (53-foot) beam – is noteworthy, her history will certainly also attract harter clients to her. Launched in 1982 by Picchiotti Shipyard (now owned by Perini Navi) as Al Said, she was the royal yacht for the Sultan of Oman for more than two decades. The Omani Ministry of Tourism reportedly received the yacht from the sultan two years ago, upon the royal family taking delivery of a newer, larger megayacht.
Loaloat Al Behar was refitted in 1999 and again just last year. The yacht’s original GM diesels, twin 4,200-hp powerplants, have been overhauled to allow her to cruise at 16 knots and top out at 18 knots. The 2009 refit also saw the addition of a new cream-tone paint job and updated interior, the latter by designer Oman Rys. The seven guest staterooms – four doubles and three twins – were among the rooms given a refreshed look. Those staterooms and the master suite allow for 27 people to be accommodated. Twenty-two crewmembers attend to their needs, though both numbers increase dramatically if Loaloat Al Behar is booked for just a dockside or at-anchor event – say, the upcoming Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix. In that case, 70 guests and 156 crew can be aboard.
Regardless of the reason charter parties book her, Loaloat Al Behar now has on-demand movies and music in alfresco spaces, all staterooms, the saloons, and of course the private cinema. Should a high-profile person be onboard, he or she can take comfort knowing that the same entertainment system can display surveillance video.
Additionally featuring diving equipment, Loaloat Al Behar is available for a weekly rate of €250,000 (about $336,187).
