Meet Yacht Akira One, From Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11

Season 11 of Below Deck Mediterranean premieres today, and with it another megayacht makes her small-screen debut. This time, the yacht Akira One is under the charge of Capt. Sandy Yawn and the crew, cruising Croatia.

Akira One is a 164-footer (50-meter) that saw delivery from Benetti in 1998. She was the first of the successful Golden Bay series superyachts from the shipyard, in fact. Custom-designed to accommodate regular charter parties, she has passed through a few owners’ hands over the years. Her present owners still charter her, though, and had her undergo significant work in 2022 into 2023 to meet modern needs while retaining classic appeal.

For instance, some groups of family and friends who vacation together don’t want hierarchical accommodations. While the superyacht positions the master suite forward on the main deck, one of the five guest suites is a VIP on the bridge deck. Especially for multi-generational families, having a stateroom benefit from a bit more privacy holds strong appeal. Further of appeal, two of the VIPs below decks have queen beds and small settees.

Throughout her decks, the yacht Akira One preserves traditional style, complementing her profile. Walnut paneling runs floor to ceiling in the saloon, formal dining room (its own room), and skylounge, for instance. Creamy-toned carpeting and fabrics create a strong contrast, too, making the richness of the wood stand out more. Both the skylounge and the main saloon also have marble-topped bars.

Also in keeping with yachting tradition, an abundance of tenders and watertoys stow aboard. Two waterjet-powered tenders can transfer guests to and from shore, plus take them snorkeling and waterskiing. The tenders additionally can tow a 10-seater inflatable ride. The megayacht carries a handful of Yamaha and Sea-Doo PWCs, plus floating cycles (bicycles attached to inflatable catamaran hulls). Seabobs, pedal boards, a windsurfer, towable tubes, and more are among the choices, too. The most fun, however, may come from the inflatable slide, attaching to the top deck, and inflatable water park, complete with seesaws.

The Greek-flagged yacht Akira One is available for charter this summer in the Mediterranean, including in Greece. Her weekly base rate starts at €176,000.
