April 1 may be April Fool’s Day around the world, but it was anything but a day to be duped in Bordeaux, France last week. That’s the day the owner of Arion, the newest Couach 3700 Fly, christened his yacht.
As the model name indicates, the megayacht measures 37 meters (121 feet) and is a flying-bridge design. Given Couach’s focus on speedy yachts, Arion follows suit. Top speed is about 30 knots, given twin 2,735-hp MTUs. Arion should see a range of 700 miles at 20 knots and 2,000 miles when dialed back to 12 knots. She shouldn’t have difficulty pulling into shallow anchorages, either, given a draft of 1.85 meters (six feet).
Arion’s owner tapped Ken Freivokh Design for the interior design, which is highlighted by neutral tones. This was the first time Couach and Freivokh collaborated on a project, and both teams hope more will follow. The main-deck spaces occupy the full beam: 7.3 meters (about 24 feet), making for an extra-comfortable atmosphere. Four guest staterooms are below decks, while the master (pictured) is forward on the main deck. (Couach gives owners a choice of either five or six staterooms total aboard the 3700 Fly.)
The owner of Arion will enjoy Mediterranean cruising this spring and summer. Meanwhile, Couach is turning its attention to its largest project to date, the 5000 Fly (50 meters, or 164 feet). Launch is expected in September.
