The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) has long been a major megayacht attraction. This year FLIBS organizers and the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss) plan to make it an even better experience for buyers, current owners, and their representatives.
First, SYBAss will have a dedicated floating pavilion at Bahia Mar, the hub of the show’s six locations. The SYBAss pavilion will encompass 16,000 square feet, which should provide for a good number of its high-profile members to exhibit there. (SYBAss members are restricted to those megayacht yards that have launched at least three yachts, whether motor or sail, that measure 40 meters/131 feet or more within the past decade.) SYBAss includes yards like Amels, Alloy Yachts, Benetti, CRN, Delta, Royal Huisman, and Trinity Yachts. Some of these builders have had their own exhibit spaces in recent years, while others have exhibited inside the Superyacht Builders & Designers tent. No word yet on which yards will move to the SYBAss Pavilion.
Another reason megayachts will get maximum exposure: Most on exhibit at Bahia Mar will be docked side-to, rather than in the longstanding stern-to setup. This will permit dockwalkers to truly see what the yacht looks like overall.
FLIBS is being held from October 27 to 31, with advanced tickets presently available via the show website.
UPDATE, AUGUST 5: Burger Boat Company is now confirmed as an exhibitor in the SYBAss pavilion. In addition, the rendering above depicts what the pavilion will look like.
