France-based Ocea, the 11-year-old yacht division of a larger shipbuilding company by the same name, has delivered its latest Ocea Commuter megayacht, Elisabet.
An Ocea Commuter 155, the all-aluminum project measures 154 feet (47 meters). As her model name states, the yacht embraces styling of the commuter yachts from the early 20th century. Unlike those, however, Elisabet, as well as other Ocea Commuter launches, is intended for longer trips. In fact, her hull is reinforced for traveling in ice-laden waters. Her range is a reported 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots. Cruising speed is reportedly 15.5 knots, and top end is 17 knots, thanks to twin 1,300-hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels. Of course, in recognition that Elisabet’s owner may want to enjoy somewhat shallow anchorages, draft is just seven feet (2.15 meters).
Bearing naval architecture by Joubert/Nivelt, Elisabet further features a helipad aft on the bridge deck. Inside are accommodations for 10 in the owner’s party and 10 crew. The nearly 28-foot (8.5-meter) beam should definitely be appreciated by the owner, whose suite is forward on the main deck.
While Elisabet is cruising the Med, Ocea is continuing construction on other Ocea Commuter models, including a 77-foot version. Perhaps the owner will draw inspiration from other Ocea Commuter clients. An Ocea Commuter 108 christened in 2004 as Abely Wheeler (now Lepante) has circumnavigated the world, for example.
