UPDATE, MAY 23, 2015: The video of Unfurled that we embedded in 2013 has been removed by the person who initially uploaded it to YouTube. We have replaced it with footage from Royal Huisman, taken in 2015 during the St. Barts Bucket. Read on for the rest of the original story.
Thirteen years after delivery, the 112-foot (34.17-meter) Unfurled still cuts a striking profile out on the horizon, and especially on the racing circuit. Built by Royal Huisman, Unfurled was commissioned by a yacht owner who had quite specific ideas on design and performance. He wanted simple lines yet ones that weren’t simplistic, and a hull engineered for racing. It worked: Her naval architect, German Frers, predicted she’d be victorious in many a race, and she has; plus Royal Huisman credits the owner with pushing it to a higher level of custom construction.
Here, see why Unfurled is considered such a good competitor on the superyacht sailing circuit.
