Though her name is being kept confidential for now, this 102’7” (31.3-meter) sloop shows what can happen when builders and designers enjoy working with one another. The all-aluminum sailing superyacht recently started construction at Pendennis, penned by Dubois Naval Architects. When she’s delivered, she’ll be the ninth yacht stemming from their collaboration and specifically the eighth sailing yacht.
Considering that Pendennis and Dubois saw their first yacht together, Taramber (now La Cattiva), launch in 1991, it’s all the more impressive. (For those of you who are trivia buffs, the one motoryacht among the total of nine projects was Ilona.) Design 382, as Dubois calls this yacht, is a sloop and has some eye-catching elements to her styling, notably the plumb bow and the sweeping arc extending aft from her house.
As for more details about the new project, only a few are available. Design 382 will have two twin guest staterooms that can convert to doubles when needed. The master suite will lie aft, beneath the cockpit. The glass you see lining the yacht’s profile should make time spent in the raised saloon and dining area more enjoyable. A lower saloon will accompany an office and nav station forward. A healthy beam of about 25 feet (7.6 meters) promises comfort throughout the interior. Renderings further show a RIB will be housed in a small garage.
While Dubois is handling the general arrangement, an unnamed designer will take care of interior design.
As is customary, Pendennis will equip the sailing yacht with a carbon fiber rig. Fixed genoa and blade stays will be complemented by a removable staysail. She’ll additionally have a fixed bulb keel, with draft being 13 feet (4 meters).
