The Azimut 77S will make her world premiere at the 2014 Cannes Boat Show. She is the newest model in the Italian yard’s S Collection, which includes the popular 55S. Four Azimut 77 yachts have been sold already, according to the yard.
The 55S was the first Azimut in the S Collection to have a wave-piercing vertical bow, and the 77S will have it, too. Other features include a pivoting stern platform, a single deckhouse window (with no breaks for an expansive view), and skylights. That should make for even more natural light in the main seating and dining areas of the Azimut 77S.
A triple-engine setup—900-hp Volvo Penta diesels paired with a Volvo Penta IPS transmission—should provide top speeds of more than 36 knots along with enhanced fuel efficiency. At a cruising speed of 32 knots, the 77S should burn about 92 gallons (350 liters) of fuel per hour.
Stefano Righini, long associated with the builder, handled exterior styling on the Azimut 77S. The interior is by Carlo Galeazzi. He’s incorporating Zebrano wood and hand-sewn leather as elements of the décor.
A full-beam owner’s stateroom is amidships, a VIP stateroom is at the bow and a pair of guest cabins fill out the guest accommodations, each with an en suite bath. Two cabins for three crewmembers are at the stern.
If you plan to view the Azimut 77S at the Cannes Boat Show, keep an eye out for the builder’s other two models making their debuts this autumn. One is the Azimut Grande 95RPH. The other is the Azimut 50 Fly. The 95 will be the smallest in the Grande collection, while the 50 will fit snugly between the builder’s 48-foot and 54-foot flybridge models.
