MegayachtNews.com, the leading independent website with a strong reach into the American luxury-yacht market, has established a partnership with Yachting Pages Media Group, which specializes in products and services for the superyacht industry. The partnership involves editorial contributions across both companies’ multi-media platforms.
UK-based Yachting Pages Media Group has holdings in print and online. Yachting Pages Directories, for example, are used by captains, senior crew, and industry professionals. It also publishes the Superyacht Owners’ Guide, a luxury book delivered to owners and potential owners that provides the education, advice, and contacts they need to build their superyacht dream.
MegayachtNews.com has been publishing all-original content on a daily basis since its founding in 2007. Articles range from onboard reports to destination overviews, marina news, and interviews with the leading shipyard representatives and designers. MegayachtNews.com employs responsive design. This means all of the content, images and overall structure of the site can be viewed properly on any device, something many other yachting websites are not. Furthermore, the Megayacht News app, created in 2013 for both the Android and Apple platforms, features even more all-original content, from full-color photo galleries to videos, directories, and more, a creativity and diversity unrivaled by other yachting media apps. It’s designed from the ground up to make use of the technology provided by the mobile devices it’s loaded on, such as the camera, GPS, and swipe capability.
The idea of collaborating sprang from an inquiry by the Yachting Pages staff. The team approached Diane M. Byrne, founder and editor of MegayachtNews.com, to gauge interest in having guest contributors. Having seen press releases from Yachting Pages that promoted the local knowledge of some of its clients, Byrne envisioned leveraging that knowledge for tailor-made cruising articles, for the monthly “Destination Guide” series. “The clients who are sharing their local expertise about cruising destinations are far more knowledgeable than other sources, and more passionate about having visitors come to their region,” Byrne explained. “I’ve asked them to present details in a more engaging way than the typical ‘first go here, then go here’ itineraries so often seen, and they’ve been happy to comply.”
Sarrah Macey from Yachting Pages and the Superyacht Owners’ Guide said, “It has been a pleasure to work in partnership with Diane and a great honor to be the first media group to contribute content for Megayacht News. The destination guides we have produced have been fascinating to work on; we look forward to working on future projects. Working in a global environment, it is fantastic to use our travel-industry expertise to produce this content.”
The collaboration has resulted in two published articles thus far, on the Norwegian fjords and in Spain. Both have been well-received by readers. More “Destination Guide” articles are planned for the coming months. Regions include:
- Greenland
- Alaska
- British Columbia
- Costa Rica
- the north island of New Zealand
The partnership extends to the Superyacht Owners’ Guide, too. The book’s editorial team wanted to incorporate more content for its growing American readership. Being released at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, the Superyacht Owners’ Guide features a lengthy article written by Byrne highlighting the talents of some of the top American yacht designers and shipyards, outlining how these specialists address the distinctly different tastes that American superyacht buyers often have in comparison to their European counterparts.
“As a global business, we are very aware of the social and cultural nuances of each country we work with; however, you can’t beat a homegrown author,” Macey said. “The American Design feature which Diane has written for this year’s Superyacht Owners’ Guide is fantastic, and we simply could not have accessed the knowledge Diane has of the American market without her.”
“I’m thankful that that the Yachting Pages Media Group team purposely reached out to me for my strong understanding of the American market, and it’s been terrific working together in yet another capacity,” Byrne said. “The additional collaboration will be of benefit to all of our readers.”
