To say that the AB 116 from AB Yachts, part of the Fipa Group, will put the wind in your hair is an understatement. The AB 116 is engineered for a blistering top speed, reportedly just shy of 53 knots. It’s in her genes: The AB 116 is part of a seven-model lineup of racy-looking and racy-performing, waterjet-equipped yachts. This particular model was introduced a few years ago and was the flagship until the AB 140 debuted last year.
The nearly 119-foot (36.2-meter) AB 116 is a maxi open meant for soaking up the sun. As a result, there’s sunning space galore, from the aft deck to the foredeck cockpit, and of course on the flying bridge.
Here’s a better look at an AB 116 christened Swift. If ever a yacht lived up to her name, this one does. And, as much as she is a real speedster on the water, Swift is a soothing respite from a busy daily life inside. The video also gives you a good overview of the customized interior. This AB 116 features light tones of wood and fabrics plus an open main-deck layout. They all accentuate the 24’6” (7.5-meter) beam. Note, too, the clever sliding partition and matching sliding doors that lend the captain and guests each a bit of privacy when needed. The real highlight, however, is the atrium-like setting that each AB 116 boasts a few steps down. Nearly 16 feet (4.8 meters) of headroom makes yet another TV-viewing and lounging area open and airy.
