The old saying “the third time’s the charm” applies to Perini Navi’s newest contract. The yard has signed the third ketch in its 60m Series.
The 60m Series so far includes Seahawk (pictured), a ketch delivered in 2013, and most recently Perseus^3, a sloop. An additional 60m Series ketch contract was announced in April 2014. (In related news, a fourth 60m Series hull is in build on spec, awaiting a buyer to choose the rig.)
The 60m Series is from the drawing boards of a familiar Perini Navi collaborator, Ron Holland Design. It was conceived to provide buyers with performance-oriented, all-aluminum craft below the 500-gross-ton mark. Thus far Perini Navi isn’t revealing information on the new ketch, other than that its in-house department will develop the sail-handling system, as per tradition. If Seahawk is any hint, however, she’ll have a lifting keel and Panamax rigs suitable for more than 21,528 square feet (2,000 square meters) of sail area. She’ll also have a 37’4” (11.4-meter) beam. No word yet on how many in the owners’ party will be accommodated, or how cabins and relaxation areas will be configured.
Delivery for this newest 60M Series ketch will be in 2017.
