Mother Nature made things interesting for the sixth edition of the Perini Navi Cup, which concluded over the weekend.
Competitors were faced with wildly different conditions each day, starting with a light breeze that dwindled even more on day one. Thunderstorms thankfully cleared for day two, while 35-knot winds greeted the fleet off Porto Cervo, Sardinia on day three.
Naturally, there were closely fought battles among the sailing superyachts that participated. The Perini Navi Cup attracted more than a dozen competitors, including Maltese Falcon, Elettra, Jasali II, Rosehearty, Clan VIII, Seahawk, and Perseus^3. Rosehearty emerged the overall winner, despite breaking a spinnaker. Clan VIII placed second, and Seahawk secured third.
Even though the weather pushed the yachts and their crews to their limits at times, teams mustered enough energy to participate in parties each night. A cocktail competition was among the festivities.
